1) What Parts of the Screen Can Be Translated?

It is important to know the difference between a text ELEMENT and text that is a part of the static image.  Text elements are made in one of 2 ways: (1) Text Elements can be added to screens in Replica Maker, and (2) Replica Maker's Text Detect Tool can be used to extract text from the background image and turn it into an editable Text Element.

2) Translate a Text Element

If the text on your screen was added in Replica Maker, or if you already used the 'detection' tool to extract it from the background image - use the process below to translate it.

If the text you want translated is a part of the background image, you need to first extract it from the background so that it becomes a text element.  Then, you can translate it.  

PRO TIP:  Extract all text elements in the English UI first.  then move into the alternate language's UI to perform your translations.

4) Best Practices & Troubleshooting

Best Practices

Detect any screen texts you want translated into an alternate language in the English UI prior to entering your translations.

• If you extract your text in an alternate language's UI, the screen in the English lesson's UI will be emptied.  To fix this, you can simply go into the English UI and enter the text into the blank text element you created in the other UI.  
• The cautionary tale here - is that it's easy to forget to go back. 

Troubleshooting

I detected and translated text, but now it's missing from the English UI.

• If you detected text in one of the alternate language UIs, the English UI will have the text element you created; but, it will be blank.  You need to enter the English translation for whatever you created in the other language.

Videos and images are missing from the alternate UI.

• Thumbnail images and videos are not moved into the alternate UI.  This allows you to upload a translated video.  Also, if your thumbnails had English components, you can upload the other language's version of each.  It isn't mandatory to use different images and videos, you can reupload the same to each UI.
