Article Overview
This article overviews Skyllful's best practices for creating screen captures for use in an immersive lesson.
Creating Screen Captures for Use in an Immersive Lesson
Skyllful specializes in immersive learning experiences. To create a learn-by-doing environment, visuals and workflows need to be authentic. Use the following best practices when capturing screens for use in an immersive lesson.
SCREEN CAPTURE
- Mind the ratio of your screens so they match the learning device's screen size.
- Whenever possible, capture your screens on the same type of device the learner will be using. This ensures screen size compatibility and the best viewing experience.
- Maximize the screen prior to capturing it. The image should utilize as much of the learner's screen capacity as possible.
SCREEN NAME CONVENTIONS
- Skyllful Studio Screen Replica Library will store all screens for a Program. When building multiple courses supporting multiple applications or processes, the library could become chaotic without proper screen naming conventions.
- Prior to tackling the development of a learning program in Studio, it is wise to establish your preferred naming convention. This will save you time going back to rename screens in arrears.
- Naming Convention Examples:
- ChangePassword_LoginScreen
- ChangePassword_01
ADDING INTERACTIVE ELEMENTS IN STUDIO
- If you want to track the location of misclicks for error analysis: create an interactive button for each action item in the workflow using the image editor in Skyllful Studio.
- If you are on a desktop and do not create distractor buttons, the learner's mouse will only change to click form when they hover over the button(s) you did create.
- Do not overlap interactive elements (text entry fields or buttons).
TEXT EDITING IN STUDIO
- You can use AI to detect and alter text in a screen capture that is loaded into Skyllful Studio.
- You can scrub sensitive information in Studio by altering or removing text, logos, etc.
