Best Practices
- Think of the script as your closed captions. You want this portion of your text entry to have correct spelling and grammar.
- Listen to the phonetics for every step, do not ever assume it will sound the way you hear it in your head.
- Different voiceovers pronounce the same words differently. Try to choose a voice that works well with common nomenclature.
- Consider naming conventions for your screens that make them easy to locate and sequence.
- You can omit screens and sections of audio from your bulk downloads by checking the 'Include in lesson mode' box.
Troubleshooting
- If you prefer to bring in the audio files one at a time, you can use the download icon by the Phonetics field, then splice them together in your video editor.
- If the phonetics have odd pauses, look for symbols to be the cause. For example, if I place something in brackets, there will be a slight pause before and after the content of the brackets.
- If your audio file has multiple voices, you forgot to choose your voiceover character for one (or more) steps.
- If your script changes aren't updating the phonetics field, it means you have edited the phonetics field already, which will turn off the overwrite feature. This protects your edited phonetics from being altered if you edit the script. Should you choose to change your script, you either have to change the phonetics, or delete the phonetics and start over.
