Article summary

Article Overview

This article will show you how to create a lesson by pulling a screen recording into Skyllful Studio and using the Replica Video Capture to produce uniform Screenshots.  Screenshots captured in this manner are automatically saved to the Screen Replica Library.  They can be uniformly cropped, simultaneously converted into Screen Replicas, and/or collectively loaded into a new (or existing) lesson with the click of a button.

1. Navigate to the Learning Program's Course Overview screen using the Skyllful Menu

2. At the bottom of the screen, in the Quick Links, tap on [Replica Video Capture]

3.Drag & Drop or Click & Find your Screen Recording (video capture)

4. The Autocrop and Autoconvert settings you used the last time you were in Replica Video Capture will be saved by default.  If you want the Screenshots you take to be autocropped (perhaps you have a taskbar, scrollbar, etc. that you want removed from every picture), you can enable the toggle A.  If you want all Screenshots to be autoconverted into Screen Replicas, enable toggle B.
WARNING:  If you toggle Autoconvert to the On-Position, AI will try to detect every piece of text and every element that looks like a button.  It is recommended you experiment before you go too far so you can determine your preferences.

5. Press [Play].  As the video advances, you can tap [Capture Replica] every time you want to capture a Screenshot

TIP:  If you find the video plays too fast for you to perform a thorough analysis, ensuring every Screenshot you need is captured - you can use the pause button.  You are free to move forward or backward to grab screens.  If a screenshot is captured out of order as a result, you can easily fix that with a drag/drop (which you will be shown later in this lesson).
The video controls WILL NOT BE CAPTURED in your Screenshot.

6. Once you are done capturing Screenshots, the tray on the left should be populated and in order.
A. You can double-click on any screen's title to rename the Screenshot.
B. You can drag and drop any Screenshot that was taken out-of-order.
C. You can import another recording and continue taking Screenshots.

7. Once you have all the Screenshots you want in the tray, you need to choose what you want done with the collection.
A. You can choose to create a new lesson using this collection of Screenshots (which will import in this order).
B. You can choose to append (add) these Screenshots to the end of an existing lesson.
C. You can click into any Screenshot in the tray to begin conversions and editing.  If you go this route, these changes will be saved to your Screen Replica Library.  this option removes you ability to push the entire set of Screenshots into a lesson.  You'll later need to pull the images into lesson steps (one-by-one).
D. You can close Replica Video Capture to have all Screenshots (or Screen Replicas) saved to the Screen Replica Library as-is.

8.  When you choose to [Create a Lesson], you must complete the required fields and press [Create]

You will receive confirmation that your Lesson was created, but you will remain in Replica Video Capture.  You can (A) Navigate to the lesson, (B) Continue converting & editing screens, or (C) Close the tool.

9. If you chose to navigate to the lesson, you should see all of your Screens are populated, in order, into Lesson steps
