Convert Videos into Screenshots - Skyllful Replica Video Capture Tool
Article Overview
This article will show you how to capture screens from imported videos - all within Skyllful Studio. Replica Video Capture is a built-in tool that eliminates the need for both 3rd party software and local or cloud storage of image files. Screenshots captured inside of Studio are automatically named and saved (in order) to the Screen Replica Library. These screens can be uniformly cropped, simultaneously converted into Screen Replicas, and/or collectively loaded into a new (or existing) lesson with the click of a button.

2) Step-by-Step Tutorial
1. Navigate to your Learning Program's REPLICA VIDEO CAPTURE Tool
2. Import a screen recording
3. Configure the screen capture settings prior to capturing screen stills[Autocrop Stills] will use AI to make a 'best guess' at cropping boundaries to eliminate extraneous portions of the top and bottom of a screen.
Example: AI is designed to crop such things as the status bar along the top of an iOS device or a Windows start bar along the bottom of a desktop. [Autoconvert Stills] will automatically convert the Screenshot image file into an editable html file. When it does this, all buttons and text are sampled and altered by AI. If you do not want this to occur, toggle it off before capturing stills.

4. Play the video and press [Capture Replica] for every screen you want to use in your lessonYou can use the video controls to move within the video. Even though the controls are visible to you, they will not be captured with your screen. Every time you click [Capture Replica], the screen capture is saved to the Screen Library. You will be able to delete screen captures from the tray, but they will not delete from the Library unless you delete them from within the library.
5. If you want to create a lesson out of this set of screen captures, click [Create Lesson] or [Append to Lesson]. for the purpose of this lesson, we wanted to show how to directly capture and save screens from a workflow recording. Press [Close] so we can confirm these Screenshots are in the Screen Library.
3) Best Practices & Troubleshooting
Best Practices
- If your screens do not require extensive text alterations, toggle [Autoconvert] to the off position before capturing stills.
- You can choose to batch edit screens and easily add cropping bounds. This will remove the risk of AI not setting the bounds precisely where you want them.
- If you need to rewind and capture a screen you missed, you can drag it to its proper order in the tray. This enables you to import all screens into a lesson in the order you need them.
Troubleshooting
- If you cannot capture a screen with the mouse out of the visible space, you can use the editor's color sampler to replace the mouse pixels with a nearby color.
- If you lose the option to import all of your screen captures into the lesson, it may be because some screens were converted using the editor behind the tray, and others were not. Try adding them all to your lesson before performing any editing functions. You can return to the library and bulk edit them once they're in your lesson.
